Hacking, malware, malicious script and injected code protection for WordPressApril 14, 2016
How much up- and down-time does your site have?April 14, 2016
The web is based on links. Links to your website and links from your website. Unfortunately web ‘rot’ happens; links change; websites and pages get moved and those links become broken and content can not be found. How do you feel when you follow a link on a website to something that is not there? How do you think the visitors to your website might feel when they find something on your website that is linked to that is gone or when something that you have linked out to is not there? It is a negative experience. The search engines do not like sending people to websites that offer a negative experiences (they too care about their users).
Broken links needs to be fixed to improve the user experience of your WordPress website. If it is an external link, then the correct URL for the links needs to be added or the link removed if the resource linked to no longer exists. If the links go to a page on your own website, then they need to be changed to point at the right page. If the links are from another website and point to a page on your website that does not exist or has moved, then you do not want to show an error. In these cases a 301 redirect needs to be put in place to direct the visitor to the right place on your website.
This is where we can help. We install a plugin (that you could also do yourself) but we monitor it continuously so we can be alerted to any broken links on your website. We can either fix the simple and obvious ones and alert you to the ones that do not appear to us to have a simple or obvious solution for your attention.
